Sacred Herbal Extracts is an ever evolving collection of gifts from Nature that have been carefully sourced, refined, concentrated, crystalized, and hand poured into special miron violet glass bottles to assist in our human experience and connection to spirituality.
This small craft offering was founded by herbal alchemist, sound therapist, and mechanical engineer, Brian Dickinson, in 2018 as he followed his heart in this special work.
Our Spagyric Process
Spagyria is an old branch of alchemy that creates a more potent, bio-available, and mineral rich extract of plants and fungi.
First, we carefully extract our plants and fungi with a series of alcohol and water portions, under vacuum to allow for distillation & extraction at lower temperatures.
After the initial extractions are complete, the spent plant matter is burned down to a white ash, calcined, and the plants mineral salts are purified and recrystallized. These minerals are then reunited with the alcohol, essential oils, and other active compounds in the initial herbal extract. At this moment chemical reactions begin such as esterification, alkalization (neutralization of the pH), saponification (making non- water soluble compounds water soluble), decarboxylation of organic acids, and formation of chelated minerals.
The reuniting moment is special chemically and energetically. We incorporate the vibrations of the gong, with positive mindful intentions as the minerals are added. Then continue the reaction process, distilling in a large soxhlet under vacuum.
The majority of the mineral salts of plants and mushrooms are composed of Potassium which is an important electrolyte for the human body.
The title Spagyric is derived from the ancient Greek words spao (to draw out) and agerio (to gather). This term highlights the basic technique underlying the many forms of Spagyric medicines: Separate, purify and recombine.
It’s central blueprint, the Tria Prima, states that all things are composed of three parts: Salt, Sulphur and Mercury.
Ingredient Sourcing
Sacred Herbal Extracts has always had a high level of care taken with sourcing the finest botanicals and ingredients. This has been made possible with friendships with talented organic herb & mushroom farmers, wild mushroom experts and herbal wildcrafting specialists.
Many of the mushrooms we work with are wildcrafted with reverence in the Old Growth Forests of Washington State by a magical elven forest man.
Many of our organic cultivated herbs come from either a small family farm in Colorado (Grey Owl Garden) or a beautiful example site of an organic herb farm that is flourishing in Oregon called Oshala Family Farm. The vitality of the herbs and botanicals we work with plays an important part in the vitality and potency of the finished products.
Founder’s Story
Brian is a connoisseur of the finest things in life. He supports individuals and communities to thrive and feel peace through sound therapy, herbal alchemy and alternative technologies.
He started his professional journey as a mechanical engineer and launched his first business in permaculture design and hemp consultations in 2015. Following his excitement for alternative ways of living he traveled to a variety of off-grid communities around the world and began guiding people on meditative journeys using a hypnagogic light technology combined with ethereal sounds. These tools and experiences sparked an excitement to dive deeper into the study of ancient rituals, ceremony and sound healing modalities.
He began working with the ancient Egyptian form of herbal alchemy called spagyrics in 2016. Following the teachings of Stephen Harrod Buhner, Brian incorporates Native American practices while harvesting herbs for his extracts. This assures the integrity of the process and supports the plant in preserving its sacred earth energy.
In 2017 he completed a year-long Sacred Earth and Herbalism apprenticeship with Starhawk and Demetra Markis. The same year he completed a gong master training with Dong Conreaux and began traveling internationally sharing the peaceful and transformational experiences of the gong.
Brian launched Sacred Herbal Extracts in 2018 as a place to share the potent alchemical extracts he was crafting. Dancing with his two passion projects that have transformed into his career ~ Brian also loves traveling, cooking, and experimenting with fermentation and Koji creations. As the seasons shift, as do his focus of time between the herbal lab work and sharing meditative sound bath experiences for hospital staff, cancer patients, retreats, and a variety of groups & individuals primarily in the New Mexico and Colorado areas.

Dosage
How to Take our Tinctures
We like to take the tincture directly into our mouth (right on the tongue is good as there is something special about tasting the extract). You can let the tincture sit for a few moments - and with Spagyric Tinctures, it is not necessary to let sit for very long as the assimilation and absorption happens very quickly. (See “Our Spagyric Process” for more details regarding this).
It is also very good to put the tincture into a little water or tea and sip this way. Our tinctures are typically between 30-40% alcohol content and for people who are sensitive to alcohol, you may put the tincture into a tea cup and add boiling water, wait about 5 minutes and the alcohol will evaporate away, leaving you with an alcohol free option.
Everyone is different and it’s best to start small and work your way up to a dose that feels good to you physically and energetically. One of the special features of the Spagyric Extraction method is that it can present energetically potent experiences with only 3 - 10 drops and some minutes of silence and contemplation.
If a person is working with some physical challenges, larger doses of 1 - 3 dropper-fulls may work well. Each bottle has recommendations regarding the serving size on the bottle and it can still be good to start with ½ of a dropper (15 drops) and work your way up.
